Created in 1981 by Professor Marcio Tavares D"Amaral, the IDEA - Advanced Studies Program (ECO/UFRJ) has as theoretical goals the historical research on the paradigms organizing contemporary culture and the discussion on the transformations that mark the transition from modernity to The actuality in the planes of languages, subjectivities, discursive regimes, new technologies, aesthetics, ethics and politics. It is formed by researchers from diverse theoretical backgrounds and methodological initiatives that come together to work on agglutinating themes of contemporary history, culture and society. From the surveys carried out, courses, seminars and publications are periodically elaborated. IDEA works both in graduate and undergraduate programs at ECO/UFRJ, in addition to the participation of scholars and researchers from other departments and institutions.
