TECHNOLOGICAL IMAGINARY
The research group IMT - Technological Imaginary - was created in 2007 by Professor Ieda Tucherman. It aims to identify the forms of presence of technosciences in social and individual life and to think of their effects in politics, ethics, aesthetics and subjectivity, considering their media coverage, both informative and fictional. When the diagnosis is that the old frontiers which for the modern Western experience provided the parameters of reference were eroded, and the old oppositional dualities such as: nature and culture; human and nonhuman (machine or animal); nature and artifice; body and spirit; organic and inorganic; real and simulated, mixed, are now producing the hybridity we know, our traditional disciplines lose the competence we have already attributed to them. It is necessary to invent new criteria. Another important objective of the research group is to develop research projects, theories and methodologies that allow us to analyze the cultural transformations of contemporaneity in connection with technologies and with biotechnologies and new configurations of subjectivity.
