The FIP (Research Group for Photography, Image and Thought) was created in 2015 by Antonio Fatorelli and Victa de Carvalho with the purpose of investigating the contemporary photographic production in the current context of expansion and relaxation of the temporal regimes of the images. Between the experimentation with the device and the production of new sensitive experiences, contemporary photography dialogues with its own history and reinvents itself in a scenario marked by crossings and overlaps between different imagery forms. With a transdisciplinary approach between photography, video, cinema and digital technologies, the group"s research aims at the relations between different technical, conceptual, aesthetic, political and cognitive domains. The research group promotes lectures, seminars, courses and book publications, besides acting in a participatory manner with the graduation of the School of Communication through monographs, dissertations and theses. The FIP brings together researchers from ten graduate programs, based in Brazil and France, with the aim of providing the development of joint research and cooperation between institutions.
