RESEARCH PROJECT:
Communication and body: the case of Brazilian beauty

Description
Brazilian beauty is a common figure, usually represented by a woman or by the body of a man on the move. It is a stereotype present in tourist posters, sites of all kinds, cartoons and notes in the press. Associated with graceful movements and care of appearance, something escapes the most common stereotypes: there is some freedom and self-esteem. This project adopts the hypothesis that Brazilian beauty is a theme and reason for discourse in the media because the presence of the body communicates and stimulates reactions that range from repression to invitation to complicity. The aim is to research the written press and the popular musical tradition in search of history and senses for the society of Brazilian beauty. The desired result is a critical, theoretical and cultural analysis, the communication that the physical presence provokes and a reading of the discourses about Brazilian body and beauty as an index of gender relations.
